At MTracey Contractors, health and safety is central to how we plan, manage and deliver every project.

We are committed to protecting our employees, subcontractors, clients, residents, visitors and members of the public. Everyone working on our behalf has a responsibility to help maintain safe and well-managed working environments.

Planned, managed and monitored

Effective health and safety begins before work starts. We assess the requirements and risks of each project, establish appropriate working procedures and communicate expectations clearly to everyone involved.

Site conditions and activities are monitored throughout the project so that new risks can be identified and addressed promptly.

THE GOLDEN RULES

M Tracey Building Contractors has set five golden rules when it comes to managing health and safety. They are:

  • Be prepared for the task – we will always ensure all parties are happy with the task objectives and how they are to be managed safely throughout. All personnel will be briefed prior to work and our dedicated safety professional will monitor, audit and guide them as and when it is required to do so.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions – We have as part of our internal health and safety management system, an incident reporting and management process. Our staff and subcontractors alike have been at the induction phase, briefed to strictly follow these procedures so incidents and unsafe acts can be, ideally proactively acted upon.
  • Mandatory PPE – All staff and subcontractors have been issued suitable PPE. They have also been informed that the appropriate PPE (task dependent) must be worn at all times. We also ensure damaged PPE is reported and replaced in a timely manner.
  • IF IN DOUBT ‘STOP’. We have advised all site based personnel to STOP if they feel that an unsafe act or unsafe condition is likely to affect them or others around them.
  • Management of Change – As the industry changes so does the way we do things. And if this is not management correctly, then we are creating potentially unsafe conditions. We believe in managing change from the top down with our Senior Leadership Team working together to ensure change of processes etc. are effectively communicated to all those they directly involve.

SAFE EQUIPMENT

  • We ensure that all equipment is safe, suitable, and well-maintained. Our subcontractors receive the training they need to use, inspect, and care for tools and machinery effectively.
  • We also ensure that we use the best equipment available to the market as this supports our safety first approach to assist us to stay ahead of industry standards.
  • This commitment helps us prevent incidents, enhance performance, and prioritise the wellbeing of everyone who relies on our equipment to do their job safely.
